 Home Movies : Kovasckitz Brothers

The “Home Movies Music Sessions” offers a warm and honest look into the lives of artists and their music. The family camcorder was used to capture the profound and mundane parts of life onto the same tape. To preserve for the future what we may forget; great-grandpa’s surprise birthday party, learning to ride a bike, that hideous sofa, your first guitar. In a time where content is everything, curated and polished, the “Home Movies” asks us to drop the act and show life as it is.

Emily Sage invited us into her peaceful Charlotte apartment that she shares with her husband. Morning light bounced around the room, reflected by hundreds of small crystals hanging in the window beside her desk — a prop saved from her music video for “Cold Moon by the Sea.” In the spirit of her ‘Love Songs & Lullabies’ aesthetic, Emily’s performances reflected her masterful control of vocals and instrumentation. She shared her love for songwriting, Portuguese romantics, and the tender moments found within her live shows.
